The Firm
My client is a unique private equity fund with an investment mandate and approach that allows them to invest in and add value to successful, founder-led businesses in the Australian mid-market with significant growth potential. The fund has a distinct approach to its provision of growth capital, along with an active value creation and long-term investment horizon which has allowed it to stand out from its peers.
With a high-velocity, non-hierarchical, inclusive and diverse culture, the firm is rapidly expanding and looking to hire an Investment Associate to join their growing investment function to be based in Sydney.
The Role
As an Investment Associate, you will be involved throughout the lifecycle of private equity investing and will get direct exposure and mentoring from a team of experienced investors.
Your key responsibilities will include:
• Assisting in sourcing potential investments and contributing to initial investment decisions
• Actively contributing to developing the firm’s investment themes and identifying future opportunities
• Researching investment target's competitive position, market size, trends and industry dynamics across a wide range of industries
• Analysing qualitative and quantitative data from potential investee companies to develop required investment committee papers and financial models
• Undertaking quantitative due diligence on investment opportunities under the guidance of the senior investment team
• Executing actionable investment opportunities, including preparation of investment committee papers
The Candidate
The successful candidate will fit the following criteria:
• At least 2-3 years of experience within investment banking, strategy consulting, corporate finance, or funds management. Exposure to private equity managers and/or transactions will be considered highly beneficial
• Strong knowledge and understanding of transactions across the full investment lifecycle
• Resourceful and efficient researching methodology
• Proven financial modelling skills
• Energetic with ability to work cohesively within the investment team
• A curious mindset with a focus on learning and growth
• Actively seeks feedback on own performance
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
• Demonstrates high levels of integrity, work ethic, resilience, people orientation and character
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
