Our client is a multi-national, mid-market focused private investment firm boasting a top quartile performance across its global portfolio. The firm is sector-agnostic, and today, invests in Australian, UK and North American businesses in a range of sectors.
The private equity team targets high-growth businesses with strong market positions, quality management, and clear opportunities for value creation. The team typically pursues significant minority investments in founder-led companies seeking to maximise value ahead of a future exit, but will also consider full company buyouts in the right situation. They are “hands on” in shaping and driving the strategic planning and value creation initiatives of portfolio companies.
In light of recent success, our client is looking to hire an Investment Associate to join their Private Equity team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain early exposure to investee companies, founders and senior stakeholders.
Working closely with the Head of Investment and Associate Director, your key responsibilities will include:
· Participate in screening potential investment opportunities
· Build financial models and perform financial analysis to support acquisitions and divestments
· Support due diligence workstreams in relation to any ongoing transactions
· Undertake financial and other analysis to support the assessment of value creation initiatives
· Perform portfolio company valuations for investor and regulatory reporting
· Monitor the financial performance of portfolio companies to support portfolio governance
· Assist the team in preparing Investment Committee and Board reports
The successful candidate will ideally have ~4-6 years’ experience across Investment Banking, Investment Management, Corporate Development, and/ or Big 4 Advisory and have:
· Genuine interest in investing and the workings of operational businesses
· Understanding of the commercial and financial drivers that impact a business’ growth and performance
· Proven financial modelling and analysis skills
· Strong knowledge of accounting and financial concepts
· Good communication and stakeholder management skills
