JMES have been mandated by a leading alternative investment manager to assist them with the hire of an Associate to join their high performing Private Equity team based in Melbourne. The platform is known for executing complex, control-oriented investments across Australia and New Zealand, with a strong track record of partnering with management teams to drive operational transformation and long-term value creation.
This is a rare opportunity to join a highly regarded, entrepreneurial team with significant capital to deploy and a disciplined, hands-on investment approach.
As an Associate, you will play a central role in the execution of control buyout transactions and ongoing portfolio management. You will work directly with senior investment professionals and have meaningful responsibility from day one.
Key responsibilities include:
· Evaluating investment opportunities across sectors, with a focus on control positions
· Leading due diligence workstreams and delivering detailed financial analysis and modelling
· Preparing investment committee materials for regional and global stakeholders
· Supporting transaction structuring, negotiations, and execution
· Working alongside portfolio company management to drive strategic and operational initiatives
Successful candidates will have gained 2-4 years’ experience of end-to-end M&A from either an investment bank or lead advisory firm and will ideally have worked on sponsor led deal activity. Complementing the candidates strong financial modelling and analytical capability will be high intellectual curiosity, commercial judgment and a genuine interest in working in a control buy out investing environment.
