About the Opportunity
Director, Credit Risk

· Specialist Debt & Equity Investor

· Director, Credit Risk

· Melbourne or Sydney based

Our client is a specialist and significant investor and financier to the Australian market, specifically in renewable energy, efficiency and emissions technologies, transport, real estate, manufacturing, agriculture - and in recent times also into innovation and aggregation platforms. Their investment portfolio comprises a relatively low volume of predominantly high dollar value transactions. To support continuing growth, they are now seeking to appoint a Director Credit Risk to provide credit risk and portfolio support to the Origination team in structuring and executing transactions.

Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO), you will support the CRO in the structuring, evaluation and management of the credit and investment risks arising from the origination of new opportunities. As Director, Credit Risk you are expected to utilise your experience to engage with transaction teams to ensure that the investment opportunities are structured in a manner that maximises the firms impact, whilst remaining consistent with the risk appetite set by the Board. The role requires active engagement with the transaction deal teams to critically review the financial risks and due diligence material for approval submissions and the translation of the approval/s and post-approval due diligence into final documentation. The Director, Credit Risk will monitor developments in the existing portfolio to ensure that issues identified are addressed in new transactions and, when requested, will provide support to the Asset Management team to manage or restructure existing investments.

With relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting or Business, you will have 15+ years’ credit risk experience gained from a corporate/investment bank, investment fund, other financial institution or advisory firm. You have developed technical skills in credit analysis, financial products, and legal structures, with extensive experience in project finance, corporate finance, commercial property finance and securitisation, risk assessment and loan management. Transaction experience across debt, equity and venture capital would be viewed favourably. Your strong problem-solving skills and confidence in working with new and innovative structures and solutions will lead to positive investment outcomes. An accomplished communicator, you can explain complex concepts to both clients and stakeholders, and your excellent organisation skills allow you to be effective with tight deadlines and high pressure situations.

This is a unique opportunity to join a growing and specialist firm, committed to making a difference.

You must have full and current Australian working rights to be considered.
