Strategic Finance Manager (APAC)

Location: Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane considered

The Opportunity

A global, private equity-backed industrial business is seeking a Strategic Finance Manager to partner directly with senior leadership across the APAC region.

This is a high-impact role sitting close to executive decision-making, providing analytical insight, financial modelling, and strategic support to the regional leadership team. The role offers significant exposure to private equity shareholders and the opportunity to influence key commercial and investment decisions.

The business operates internationally across infrastructure, defence, energy and heavy industry sectors, delivering specialist products, services and engineered solutions to industrial clients worldwide.

The Role

Reporting to the Global VP of Finance and working closely with the APAC leadership team, the Strategic Finance Manager will provide commercial insight, strategic analysis and decision support across the region.

This role is highly analytical and commercially focused, ideal for candidates with a background in corporate finance, transaction services, investment banking or strategic FP&A.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Commercial Analysis

  • Deliver high-quality financial and commercial analysis to support regional strategic decision-making
  • Develop financial models, scenario analysis and business cases to support investment decisions
  • Analyse performance trends and identify key drivers impacting business outcomes

Executive & Board Support

  • Support preparation of board-level materials, strategic presentations and financial narratives
  • Translate complex financial information into clear insights for senior leadership and shareholders

Business Partnering

  • Act as a trusted analytical partner to regional commercial and operational leaders
  • Provide structured analysis to support strategic initiatives and ad-hoc business decisions

Planning & Forecasting

Support regional budgeting, forecasting and outlook processes through analytical input

  • Provide interpretation of performance against plan and identify risks and opportunities

Strategic Project Support

  • Assist with strategic initiatives including growth projects, investment analysis and performance tracking
  • Provide analytical support for capital allocation decisions and business planning

About You

Experience

  • 5–10 years’ experience within Corporate Finance, Transaction Services, Investment Banking or Strategic FP&A
  • Background within Big 4, investment banking, consulting or blue-chip corporate finance environments preferred
  • Experience supporting senior leadership and preparing analysis for executive or board audiences
  • Exposure to private equity environments, M&A, or investment evaluation is highly advantageous
