About the Opportunity
Senior Finance Manager (VP Level) - Wholesale Banking

An established international wholesale bank is seeking a Senior Finance Manager to establish and lead the Finance function for its Australian Branch.

This is a foundational leadership role responsible for building robust financial governance, ensuring full regulatory compliance, and delivering high-quality financial reporting from inception. The successful candidate will work closely with regional stakeholders and local management to design, implement and oversee finance policies, systems, controls and reporting frameworks aligned with Australian regulatory requirements, including those of Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA), Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), and Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB).

Key Responsibilities

Establish the Finance Function

Design and implement finance policies, procedures and internal control frameworks

Implement core finance systems and chart of accounts

Establish month-end and year-end close processes

Financial Reporting & Regulatory Compliance

Deliver accurate management and statutory financial reporting

Oversee APRA prudential reporting and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

Coordinate internal and external audits and regulatory reviews

Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning

Develop annual budgets and multi-year financial forecasts

Monitor performance against budget, analyse variances and identify root causes

Support strategic planning and new business initiatives

Business Partnering & Financial Performance

Act as a trusted advisor to senior management

Translate financial data into meaningful insights to support decision-making

Strengthen risk management, governance and control frameworks

Candidate Profile

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

Professional qualification such as CA ANZ or CPA Australia

Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience within banking or financial services

Strong experience in statutory and regulatory reporting, including APRA prudential reporting

Proven track record in finance function setup and control framework design

Deep expertise in financial and management reporting

Strong governance mindset and ability to operate at VP level
