About the Opportunity
Head of Finance - Wholesale Banking | Sydney

An international wholesale bank is seeking a Head of Finance to lead the Finance function for its Australian Branch.

This is a greenfield leadership role requiring a senior banking finance professional with strong experience in APRA prudential reporting, Liquidity Coverage environments, and wholesale banking balance sheet oversight. The successful candidate will establish robust financial control, regulatory reporting and governance frameworks, while partnering closely with IT and regional stakeholders to ensure scalability by implementing appropriate finance systems infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead the Australian Branch finance function
  • Oversee financial control across a wholesale banking balance sheet
  • Lead APRA prudential and liquidity reporting (LCR framework)
  • Ensure compliance with AASB and statutory reporting requirements
  • Participate in ALCO and senior governance forums
  • Define finance requirements for system implementation and work closely with IT to deliver robust reporting infrastructure
  • Strengthen internal controls, data governance and reporting processes
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and strategic initiatives

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be CA or CPA qualified with a minimum of 10 years’ experience within wholesale or international banking environments, and a strong track record in APRA prudential reporting. They will have operated within an LCR liquidity framework and supported a complex or sizeable balance sheet across products such as corporate lending, deposits, FX and money markets.

The successful individual will bring deep expertise in financial control, regulatory reporting and governance, with the credibility to engage at ALCO and senior stakeholder level.
