Senior Portfolio Manager, Macro Strategies

• Lead a team of 8

• Player-Coach Macro Trading Role including Managing Your Own Discretionary Trading Portfolio

• Provide Critical Leadership & Mentorship to the team

• Sydney based

Our client, a leading superannuation fund is looking to add a talented and passionate Senior Portfolio Manager to their investment team.

Reporting to the Head of Investment Strategy, the successful candidate will lead the macro strategies team and be responsible for managing the portfolio of discretionary macro positions to achieve individual and team targets. Critical to the role will be a demonstrated macro trading track record and the ability to provide leadership and development of the team members. You will represent the Macro Strategy team to key internal and external stakeholders and well as contributing to the ongoing enhancement, implementation and future development of the macro research platform.

Other key responsibilities will include:

• Collaborate effectively with the Investment Strategy team & broader Investment Control, Markets & Governance functions

• Generate trade ideas, manage positions & oversee the overall portfolio of trades

• Lead or contribute to projects to enhance the Macro Strategies operating platform

• Foster communication with other departments & direct ad hoc queries through the right channels

• Represent the team to internal stakeholders such as the CIO, Management Investment Committee & Investment Committee

• Build the brand in the external marketplace as a high-quality macro investor

• Identify continuous improvement initiatives to enable the Investment team to deliver its services efficiently and effectively

It is expected that you will likely have 10+ years’ experience in a macro trading environment with an excellent track record of success with the appropriate risk reward framework and be balanced in accepting risk in any decision you face. You will be a passionate investor and inspiring leader providing a strong sounding board for ideas and challenging hypothesis for the conviction of trade and continual development of the team members. In addition, you will be results oriented with excellent analytical, technical and problem-solving skills with a high level of integrity and professional reputation. You will also possess a strong passion for leading and developing a team of collaborative and thoughtful investment professionals. You will hold appropriate tertiary qualifications in economics, commerce or finance with a CFA/Post-Graduate Degree highly regarded.
