We are working with a leading investment platform whose investment team is made up of more than 100 specialists. The Investments team is responsible for overseeing externally managed investments and manages a portfolio of direct assets and investment portfolios in-house to deliver strong, risk-adjusted returns. The team is a passionate, curious and collaborative group of investment professionals driven by purpose, creating an environment where every team member can succeed professionally and grow personally.
The team is looking to add a Manager, Asset Governance to report into and support the Senior Manager, Asset Governance and the Investment team to ensure good asset governance across the infrastructure, property and private equity portfolio businesses. You will also provide additional support to the wider Direct Asset Oversight & Enhancement team as required.
Internally you will build relationships across:
• Investment team (Property, Infrastructure, Real Assets & Private Equity) who are responsible for the direct asset portfolios
• Management & Board Sub-Committees involved in governance & decision making such as the Management & Sector Investment Committees, Investment Committee, Governance & Nominations Committee & Direct Asset Committee
• Other teams including Governance, Risk, Responsible Investment, Legal & Company Secretary, Direct Asset Control & Finance
Externally, you will build relationships across:
• Asset company board & management teams
• Investment partners & advisors
• Other institutional investors
• Investment Team Service providers
The successful candidate will display the following:
• Strong & relevant academic qualifications specific to the governance of assets in the investments context. For example: bachelor’s degree in law, plus a governance or chartered secretary qualification
• Relevant industry experience in board governance practices, potentially as a company secretary, assistant company secretary or a lawyer working in private practice or in-house
• Experience working with infrastructure, property & private equity assets would be valuable
• Experienced in managing a wide range of stakeholders both internally & externally
• Excellent organisational skills, with a calm & reasoned approach to complexity & ambiguity
• Strong written & verbal communication/presentation skills, able to be tailored for different audiences
• Demonstrated ability to produce a range of reports & papers that clearly articulate the desired message
• High level Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
• Appreciation of the regulatory & legislative context in which the financial services sector & superannuation funds operate would be advantageous
